Take Me Home – A dance journey through separation and love

Take Me Home is a dance performance by the choreographer Natasa Georgiou. Through this dance journey we experience feelings of separation and love. Separation that comes violently after a war, a terrorist attack and the difficult life conditions, that force people to separation. Luckily, love exists and gives hope and seeks ways to touch, forgive and prevail.

The net profits of the show will be given as a financial aid to the Volunteer Distribution Centre at the Reception Centre for Asylum Seekers and Refugees in Kofinou.

The Kofinou Reception Centre is the only governmental reception centre for Asylum Seekers in Cyprus and was established in 2004. The main responsibilities of the Asylum Service, apart from the examination of applications for international protection at first instance, the coordination and supervision of the operation of reception centres, the implementation of the Dublin Regulation for establishing the criteria and mechanisms for determining the Member State Responsible for the examination of an application for international protection, the preparation of Draft Bills, the participation in working groups of the EU and generally the coordination of the Services involved in asylum-related matters. The Centre can accommodate up to 400 people.
The Asylum Service has also set up, with EU funded funds, a temporary open reception centre in Kokkinotrimithia, for people who need international protection in cases of mass influx.

The voluntery group, Kofinou We Care, and other volunteers are activated at the Kofinou Reception Center for Asylum Seekers and Refugees, they cooperated for the creation of the Distribution Center of the Volunteers and the Mothers and Babies Common Room, inside the Reception Center.

The “Distribution Center'' has already been in operation since Saturday the 22nd of April 2017 and provides the residents of the camp, with FREE emergency supplies, which they need and that are provided for them by donations from other residents /citizens in Cyprus and from private companies.

Because the needs are constantly increasing, and often need to buy various emergency supplies, such as blood sugar measuring machines, baby nebulizers, etc., but also for current running expenses, the DC has an immediate need for financial support.
