Acheleia
Its name derives from the corruption of the French word L'Eschelle (Asse'leia), which means a port, a quay or generally a place where ships are moored.
Acheleia is a village in the province of Pafos, about 7 kilometers away. in the southeast of Pafos.
The village of Acheleia is built at an altitude of about 35 meters above sea level to the east of the river Ezousas, which is known locally as the river of Acheleia.
In Acheleia are grown vines, vegetables, citrus fruits, cereals, peanuts, potatoes, olives, deciduous trees, fodder plants and others.
Close to the main road of the village of Acheleia, it is the 16th century church of Agios Georgios. Another church that is preserved is the church of St. Theodosios, where there are also murals. Close to the sea of Acheleia is the ruined church of Agios Leontios. It seems that there was a small town of Roman times in the area. At the harbor of Acheleia, known as Moulia, the icon of Panagia Chrysorrogiatissa was found, which, according to tradition, brought the waves.
