Psematismenos
The village itself is believed to have been founded in the Byzantine period
Psematismenos is a village in the Larnaka province. It is a small village but very beautiful, with ancient roots and traditional character. It is located 31 km southwest of Larnaka. Halfway to Limassol is the turn to Psematismos village. It is adjacent to the villages of Zygi, Maroni and Tochni.
According to the 2011 census it had 271 inhabitants. The area of Psematismenos has been inhabited since Prehistoric times, as evidenced by the archaeological finds, while the village itself is believed to have been founded in the Byzantine period.
Among other things, the village produces citrus fruits, olives and carobs.
The church of Psematismenos which is dedicated to Saint Marina dates back to the 16th century. It was rebuilt from the beginning in 1886 and the church's sanctuary contains many old frescoes, while its iconostasis dates back to 1850.
