Agios Ioannis Nicosia is 18km away from the capital. It is a village with a tranquil view, which is seen in all its grandeur from the high hill of Korakas. It is worthwhile to travel to the magic of nature overlooking the view from the Koraka hill, located in the northeast of the village. The name of the village according to the Great Cypriot Encyclopedia, is marked on the old maps under the name "S. Jean".
The village of Agios Ioannis in Nicosia has a steadily growing population, due to its geographical position. In particular, many residents and young families choose to live in Agios Ioannis of Malounta because it is close to the capital but away from the city's hustle. Thus, the inhabitants of the community enjoy the facilities of the city but at the same time the beauty of the countryside. Many residents live in Nicosia now because of the improved road network.
The main church of the village is dedicated to Saint John the Baptist where it was built in the 19th century. It is worthwhile to observe within it a picture of Christ of the 16th century, while on the outside on its west part the carving of the lion's head from the 14th century.
