Zivania Symposium
Nicosia 18th March 2017
What’s that drink?
Raki? Tsikoudia? Grapa? You know that strong, clear, alcohol made from wine-making leftovers like grape skins, seeds, stems?
In Cyprus it is called Zivania.
You can take it in a shot glass with some small “mezedakia” or have it as a digestive after your meal.
Different distillers will embellish it in different ways. Some may add wild herbs such as Thyme or Rosemary.
On the 18th of March, if you can get yourself to Nicosia, you have the chance to taste a number of different varieties of Zivania from all over Cyprus. It’s at the Zivania Smposium which is being organised by the Nicosia Municipality, the “Nicosia within the walls Lion Club” and the Oenophile Group of Cyprus.
The Place: Irene Hall (at the end of Ledra Street).
The Time: 17:00 to 21:00 hours.
The Date: 18t March 2017.
Entrance is free.
