Father’s Day!
Learn why and when we celebrate father’s day...
Parents and family in general are the most important things in a person’s life!
They are always beside us and they support us through the ups and downs and help us make the right decisions, even if we often do not fully understand it.
Most of us, if not all of us, know about mother’s day, the day that we honor all the mothers of the world, who brought us to life. Mothers are there while we are growing up to make sure we will be good people with values.
This is very good and important, because it’s a chance to show our love and our gratitude to the important people of our lives!
Equally important, however, is our father! The man, to whom, we owe our existence and also our upbringing ... The man who has done everything in order to never leave his children be deprived of anything. And if he had been a bit strict, please forgive him... he'll always love you!
We must show our parents we love them - every single day of the year, but these international - world-days give us the opportunity to tell them and show them once again how much we love them!
Let’s don’t forget, the Father’s day and let him know how much we love and appreciate him.
When is Father's Day?
Father’s Day is a movable event which is celebrated every year on the 3rd Sunday of June. This year - 2019, it is on 16 June.
What are we celebrating on this day?
The Father’s day is a day devoted to all the fathers of the world, but more generally to the paternity and contribution of the dads to the community. This celebration aims to show that the role of the father is just as important as that of the mother!
The celebration of this event began in America at the beginnings of the 20th century, inspired by the first mother’s day. However, people didn’t respond, so the idea of the Father’s day stayed on the sidelines for several years.
In 1966 the Father’s day was officially established as a event by the President of the United States, Lyndon Johnson, and the decision was finalized in 1972 by President Nixon.
In Greece the celebration was established by the Association of Divorced Men, due to the abhorrence faced the fathers by the courts regarding custody of children when divorces were being dealt.
Nowadays the celebration has a ceremonial character as a complement to the mother's day, and is the day of honor to all of the fathers of the world!
Wherever you are, on this Sunday, don’t forget your father, you don’t need much or expensive gifts. Just call him on the phone if you are far away and wish him “Happy Father’s Day”. Even better, if you can give him a tight hug and tell him how much you love him, like then... when you were little and you used to run towards him saying "I love you daddy"!
HAPPY FATHER’S DAY!
