- The area of Cyprus is 9,251 km² of which 5,896 km2 are under the control of the Republic of Cyprus and of which 3,355 km2 are under the administration of the de facto Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
- Turkey invaded Cyprus in two phases 20-22 July, and 14-16 August 1974
