Perfect for the hot summer days
Mahalepi Recepie...Perfect for the hot summer days!
What we need:
- 6 glasses of water
- 6 tablespoons of Corn starch (Corn flour)
- Sugar
- Rose water
- Rose syrup
How do we do it:
Dissolve the corn starch in the water and put it in a saucepan. Put the pot on a low heat and stir with a wooden spoon continuously until it boils and blisters. Then lower the heat to the minimum, continue stirring vigorously for another 5-6 minutes until cooked and become a gel and liquid cream.
Τake a pan or pyrex, wet it and pour in the cream. (It should be about 1 to 1.5 cm thick cream, you might need a second pyrex).
Allow to cool well, cut into portions (square large pieces) leaving them in the pan, cover it with iced water and put it in the fridge for 1 hour to freeze well.
To serve mahalepi we take a deep dish, put a piece of mahalepi, sprinkle it with rose water and a spoonful of rose syrup. Pour chilled water until is covered, cut small pieces and finally sprinkle with as much sugar as you want!
Bon appetit!
