A journey to Greece…through Pafos
An authentic treasure of Greece, that won our hearts with its rich and traditional flavours!
If you love Greek cuisine as much as we do, get ready because we’re about to share one of the best dining experiences we’ve ever had.
We discovered a hidden gem of a restaurant where even the simplest dishes, like salad and bread, taste extraordinary.
Have you heard of Ta Pinakia Mezedopoleio in Pafos?
The moment we stepped inside, it felt like we’d been transported to a Greek island.
Set in a charming traditional stone building, the restaurant features a terrace with distant views of the sea and the city’s ancient ruins.
And our first thought? “Something truly special is about to happen here...” And it absolutely did.
The food was simply outstanding! We ordered a variety of small plates as that is the true way to enjoy Greek meze.
Each dish came with its own little story, a flavourful journey through different corners of Greece.
We tried: the dish of the day, slow-cooked pork shank that melts in your mouth, a spicy spetsofai bursting with deep, bold flavours, juicy lamb chops, tender beef with smoky eggplant, a whole grilled calamari drizzled with lemon-olive oil sauce, and finally, shrimp saganaki...a true flavour revelation!
Every dish was crafted with care and quality, as if the grandmother of the village had made it, right down to the homemade bread!
And this is where their secret lies: in the quality of Greek ingredients and spices, and the artistry of the talented chef, Konstantinos Hatzimanolis, who pours his passion and love for Greek tradition into every plate he creates.
In fact, you can choose and create your own personalised meze platter, picking from a wide variety of “pinakia” — perfect for trying a bit of everything, which is exactly what we did!
As the friendly owner told us, the menu changes with the seasons, offering daily surprise dishes like pork shank, giouvetsi, stuffed calamari, and of course…plenty of vegan and vegetarian options for everyone.
And the atmosphere? One word: MAGICAL. The outdoor terrace, especially at sunset, is absolutely beautiful. If you visit on a Sunday afternoon (until May), you’ll even enjoy live Greek music.
If you're craving authentic Greek flavours, made with love and passion, in a place filled with charm and hospitality, Ta Pinakia should be at the top of your list.
We left satisfied, with our hearts and stomachs full, already planning our next visit!
So here’s to a wonderful journey through Greece, via Pafos!
