The restaurant in Prodromos, which once fed half of Cyprus, has now moved to Kykko

It continues with the same philosophy and passion as before

Until last year, Byzantio Restaurant in Prodromos was a landmark for anyone visiting the high mountains of Cyprus.

Now, you can find the historic Byzantio Restaurant in Kykkos, still lovingly run by Mr. Haris, who continues to honour Cypriot traditions.

We had the pleasure of visiting it and are excited to share our experience with you.

What’s worth eating?

Kykkos Byzantio restaurant offers a daily buffet featuring beloved Cypriot dishes.

Whether you're sampling kleftiko, moussaka, chicken souvla, pork souvla, meatballs, baked potatoes, burgouri, or other specialities, each dish is fresh, expertly cooked, and home-made.

The standout was definitely the kleftiko - it was incredibly juicy and flavourful!

Of course, at the end of our meal, we decided to order coffee along with some of the fresh sweets they had available. The kadaifi and baklava were absolutely fantastic!

The serene atmosphere in nature that soothes the soul is found near the Monastery of Kykkos, nestled in a lush green landscape.

During our August visit, the weather was ideal for savouring lunch amidst the beautiful sounds and scents of nature in the restaurant’s beautifully maintained courtyard.

We also explored the interior of Kykkos Byzantio restaurant. Its spacious, elegant design features large windows that offer scenic views of the surrounding nature, making it perfect for hosting large gatherings, parties, weddings, and christenings.

A Mountain Getaway

Combine your visit to the Kykkos Byzantio restaurant with a pilgrimage to Panagia tou Kykkos and explore the charming surrounding villages. With its serene location, inviting atmosphere, delectable cuisine, and excellent service, Kykkos Byzantio is the perfect destination for a memorable outing.

One thing is for sure: we'll definitely be returning. This place showcases our country’s culture with its distinctive flavours and soothing ambience.

We’d also like to express our gratitude to Mr. Haris for helping us find a monk’s room to stay in for the night.
