Sunshine and Beaches!
Every time "Cyprus" is mentioned, you instantly think of mouthwatering Mediterranean cuisine, wine and best of all.....glorious sunshine. The beaches along the coastline in Cyprus have been awarded as the cleanest and most unpolluted beaches in Europe!
In 2014 the International Blue Flag jury awarded a Blue Flag to 59 Cypriot beaches. That's quite an accomplishment, given the sheer number of tourists and locals that visit our small islands beaches on a daily basis. These beautiful beaches offer all the necessary facilities and equipment such as lifeguards, showers, public toilets, access points for the disabled etc. It's what makes swimming in the crystal clear waters so pleasurable.
The awarded Blue Flag beaches are:
Free Famagusta Area: Louma, Pernera, Ayia Triada, Kappari, Vrysi A’ & B’ & C’, Protaras, Nisia Lombardi (Paralimni), Limnara, Konnos Bay, Ammos tou Kampouri, Gliki Nero, Pantachou, Loukkos tou Manti, Katsarka, Pernera, Vathia Gonia, Nissi Beach, Lanta, Macronissos (Ayia Napa) and Ayia Thekla (Sotera).

There are many beaches on the island, accessible by wheelchair users. At each beach, which is accessible to people with accessibility needs, there is the recognisable international blue symbol, which depicts a wheel set. In Cyprus, so far there are 40 CTO beaches, out of which 11 beaches with full accessibility and 29 with partial accessibility.
It is remarkable that six of these beaches have a pioneering independent access system for disabled people (Seatrac). The Seatrac consists of a photovoltaic tower that powers a special seat mounted on a rail, transferring the user to a depth of 60cm. in the water for swimming. The use of Seatrac is free of charge to the public.
According to the CTO seatrac have the following beaches:
- Ayia Napa: Lanta, Vathia Gonia
