Kavo Gkreko Visitor Centre
Experience marine and terrestrial environments at this unique award winning Centre!
The Kavo Gkreko Visitor Centre was created by the Department of Forests and it is located in the heart of the National Park, on the road network that leads from both Ayia Napa and Protaras, to Cape Greco.
The building is an impressive and innovative structure that won an international architectural competition, the 2016 State Architecture Prize.
The Centre provides visitors with an opportunity to experience the natural heritage of both the marine and terrestrial environments of the National Park and the Natura 2000 area. The exhibitions at the Centre includes collections of shells, butterflies, wild birds, mammals, reptiles, fossils and a dwarf hippopotamus skeleton which were extinct from Cyprus about 13,000 years ago.
Visitors also have the chance to see, three large aquariums with various fish and aquatic plants from the surrounding marine area.
You can combine your visit to the Kavo Gkreko Visitor Centre with an outdoor meal at the park's picnic site, swimming at the famous "Konnos" beach or walking on one of the park's many trails to admire popular attractions of Cyprus such as the “Kamara tou Koraka”, the sea caves, the Cave of Cyclops and Kavos.
You can get there by car or you can take the OSEA buses no.101 and 102, starting from Ayia Napa and Paralimni, each stopping 50m away from the Centre every 15-20 minutes.
